I debated whether or not to write about this, but I feel I owe an account of what's been going on to everyone who’s invested their time and money with me.
A few months ago, I excused my lack of content by saying that I was very busy with some projects. However, I mentioned that I was finished with those projects and should be back to making YouTube videos every other day and sending out this newsletter twice a week.
I didn’t keep that promise, and I apologize.
You may remember some months ago, I mentioned in my newsletter that my wife was stricken ill at work, taken to the emergency room, and admitted to the hospital. She was in for four days, and at first, they thought she was having a heart attack, but tests indicated that wasn’t correct. They couldn’t find a concrete reason why she was experiencing chest pain and dizziness other than she had high blood pressure and a stressful job. So, they sent her home.
The meds they prescribed to her for high blood pressure weren’t working, and she began to suffer debilitating headaches. She didn’t necessarily fit the typical profile of one with high blood pressure. She isn’t overweight and has no history of high blood pressure in her family. So she saw other doctors, and they did more tests.
They found that she had a tumor on her pituitary gland. She had a CT scan done then they followed that up with an MRI. They were pretty sure that the tumor was benign – something called a Pituitary Adenoma. The tumor was putting pressure on her pituitary gland, which in turn caused the high blood pressure and headaches. Removal of the tumor was recommended.
Before she could have the surgery, she had to see several doctors, which included her general practitioner, the neurologist who was going to be removing the tumor, an ear, nose, and throat doctor who was going to do the surgery to gain access to the tumor through her nose, her cardiologist, and an endocrinologist. All of whom had to sign off on the surgery.
It took weeks to get that done, but I’m happy to say she had the surgery this past Friday and came home Saturday. It’s incredible to me that they can do brain surgery on someone by gaining access via the nose with an endoscope, and that person can come home the following day.
She had a minor hiccup today when one of the splints they have in her nose, which is there to stop her brain from coming out through her nose, came loose, and she was bleeding. This morning, I took her to the hospital, and they fixed that up in a few minutes, and she’s back home.
During all of the running from doctor to doctor and clinic to clinic, I was creating the masking Photo Kit that I did for On1 Software, and then I made videos for the Lightroom Virtual Summit 2024, which was held by Dave Cross and Matt Kloskowski. I immediately followed that up by doing my Topaz Labs Photo AI course, and right after that, I was one of the instructors for the On1 Landscape Photography Conference for Kelby One. It was one thing after another, and unfortunately, this newsletter suffered, and so did my updates to my Ultimate Lightroom Classic Training course.
Tomorrow, I’ll be recording a video for the Ultimate Lightroom Classic Training course – specifically, I’ll be doing a video on the new Content-Aware Remove tool and adding it to the course.
Later in the week, I hope to add two more videos to the Real-Life Edits portion of the course: one for wildlife photography and the other for macro photography.
As for the newsletter, I’ll be sending one out this Wednesday that will actually be on photography. I’ll send another out over the weekend – typically, that newsletter would be for paid subscribers only but because of my lack of content, I’ll send that out to everyone.
Hopefully, next week, I’ll be back to a normal schedule of YouTube videos every other day, a free newsletter sent out on Monday, and a paid newsletter going out over the weekend.
Finally, due to popular demand, I’ll be offering a Photoshop course before a course on Luminar Neo. I’ve been getting a lot of emails from people telling me how much they’re looking forward to a Photoshop course, so I decided to offer it first. I’ll share more information about it as soon as possible.
Thank you all for putting up with me!
